Custom cut float glass supplied for residential and commercial projects.
Stake Glass is your local supplier of float glass, also known as annealed glass. Commonly used in homes and commercial buildings throughout New Zealand, float glass offers excellent clarity and versatility and can be cut and processed for a wide range of applications, including windows, doors, shelving, furniture, and internal glazing.

Float glass is manufactured by floating molten glass on a bed of molten tin, creating a smooth, flat surface with excellent clarity and consistency. As the glass cools, it forms a continuous ribbon before undergoing a controlled cooling process known as annealing. This process relieves internal stresses within the glass and produces what is commonly known as annealed glass.
Annealed glass is the foundation for many of the glass products used in homes and commercial buildings today. It can be further processed into toughened glass, laminated glass, splashbacks, and double glazing units. While float glass offers excellent light transmission and visibility, it is not classified as safety glass and will break into larger, sharper pieces if damaged, making it more suitable for applications where safety glazing is not required.

Float glass is available in a range of thicknesses to suit different residential and commercial applications. The best option depends on the glass size, intended use, and performance requirements.
