Toughened glass is manufactured by subjecting standard float glass to a specialised heat treatment process. The glass is heated to approximately 650°C and then rapidly cooled, creating a much stronger glass product with excellent impact and thermal resistance.
Unlike standard glass, toughened glass is designed to break into small blunt fragments rather than large sharp shards, helping reduce the risk of injury if breakage occurs.
Toughened glass is classified as Grade A Safety Glass in accordance with AS/NZS 2208 and is commonly specified where safety glazing is required.
Toughened glass is available in a range of styles and performance options to suit different applications, design preferences, and compliance requirements.
