Saint Gobain Low E Glass COOL-LITE | Low E Glass

COOL-LITE is Low E glass with high performance solar control, excellent neutrality, and advanced thermal insulation properties. It is used for applications requiring high solar protection and high light transmittance.

Windows can reflect, take in, and transfer heat, so Low E coatings can be used to enhance the performance of a window.  Low E is a common abbreviation of “Low Emissivity”. Low Emissivity means a surface that gives off low levels of radiant heat. Therefore, a glass window with a Low E coating will reduce the amount of heat transfer, making your house warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Benefits

High Performance Solar Control

Balances the advantages of a high performance neutral solar control product with:

  • Enhanced Thermal Insulation
  • Excellent centre U-value of 1.0 (90% argon-filled)
  • Low g-value of 0.37 (The lower the solar factor the higher the solar protection)

Comfort & Aesthetics

  • High light transmission 70%
  • High degree of neutrality
  • Can be used to create more comfortable interiors by reducing overheating and the need for costly air conditioning, whilst at the same time noticeably reducing excessive heat loss.
  • The high light transmittance also reduces the requirement for interior lighting during daylight hours, helping reduce energy costs even further.

The diagram below outlines how heat passing through your glass reduces when you use Double Glazing, Low E Double Glazing and Glazing Argon Gas instead of Air to fill the space between the two panes of glass.

Cool-lite Low E Glass u values

What is a U-Value?

A U-value measures the rate of heat loss over a surface or material, how much heat passes through your glass. A lower U-value means lower heat transfer and better insulation of your home.
